Play your first content
Upload a file to the media library, build a playlist, create a schedule and assign it to your display.
Content always reaches a display through the same chain: file, playlist, schedule, display. Once you have built this chain, you will usually only change the playlist from then on. You need a paired display or the demo display.
From file to screen
- 1Open the “Media library” and click “Upload file”. You can select several files at once.
- 2Open “Playlists”, choose “New playlist”, enter a name and click “Create playlist”.
- 3On the right, under “Available creatives”, click the media you want to play. They appear on the left under “Playlist items”; drag the handle to change the order.
- 4Check the result with “Preview” and click “Save”. Changes to a playlist are not saved automatically.
- 5Open “Schedules”, choose “Add schedule”, enter a name such as “Opening hours” and click “Create”. Then open the new schedule.
- 6Click “Add slot”. Select “Playlist” as the content type, “Whole week” or a single day as the day of the week, a start and end time, and your playlist. Confirm with “Add”.
- 7Under “Displays”, open your display, select the new schedule on the “Schedule” card and confirm with “OK”.
Check that it is running
New content appears on the screen within about 15 minutes. You can speed this up with “Reload playlist” in the display’s “Player controls”: the player runs the command on its next heartbeat, so within 5 minutes. Large videos have to be downloaded first, which can take additional time.
The preview on the detail page shows what was last delivered to the display. Whether the picture actually reaches the screen can only be seen on site. If the screen stays empty, see “Content is not playing”.
Watch the format: content that does not match the display’s orientation (portrait on a landscape display or the other way round) is not played. The display’s detail page warns you if the assigned schedule contains such content.
