Plan special offers and holidays

Control time-limited content with validity dates in the playlist, or switch the schedule for a holiday.

Schedules repeat every week and do not know calendar dates. For a Christmas offer or different opening hours on holidays, there are therefore two routes: limit individual items by date, or switch the display’s schedule for the period.

Route 1: limit content by date

This is the simplest route for offers that run alongside the normal programme. Once set up, the content starts and ends by itself.

  1. 1Under “Playlists”, open the playlist that plays during the period you want.
  2. 2On the right, under “Available creatives”, add the offer’s creative and drag it to the position you want.
  3. 3Enter “Valid from” and “Valid until” on the item. Both days are included, and German time applies.
  4. 4Click “Save”.
  5. 5Check the label: before the start the item says “Scheduled”, after the end “Expired”. Expired items no longer play and can be removed later.

Route 2: switch the schedule for the period

This route suits days when a completely different programme should play, such as public holidays or company holidays.

  1. Under “Schedules”, create a separate schedule, for example “Holiday”, with the slots you need.
  2. When the period starts, open the display under “Displays”, select the new schedule on the “Schedule” card and confirm with “OK”.
  3. Afterwards, set the normal schedule again in the same way.

For several displays, repeat the assignment per display. It can also be automated through the API (PATCH /devices/{id} with schedule_id, see the API reference).

Example: Christmas offer

Your creative should run from 1 to 24 December. Add it to the current playlist, enter these two dates on the item and save. For the holidays themselves, when you are closed, switch to a schedule with a creative saying “We’re back on the 27th”.

There is currently no holiday calendar and there are no date-based slots: a public holiday runs like any other weekday. A dated item also does not push anything out; the playlist’s other items keep playing. If only the offer should play, use route 2.
