Add a widget (weather, sports, news)
Enable widgets in the Content Hub, set up RSS news and custom widgets, and play them through a widget slot.
Widgets show automatically updated content, such as weather or sports results, between your own media. They are part of Pro and are set up in two places: in the Content Hub you choose which widgets are active, and in the schedule you define when they play.
Enable a widget
- 1Open “Content Hub” and the “Widgets” tab.
- 2Switch on the widget you want. The card then shows “Active — shown on your displays”.
- 3Under “Schedules”, open your display’s schedule and click “Add slot”.
- 4Select “Widget” as the content type, plus a day of the week, start time and end time, and click “Add”.
- 5Wait for up to about 15 minutes or send “Reload playlist” to the display.
Available widgets
- Weather: current weather and forecast at the display’s location.
- Sports: live results and tables.
- Quotes: daily quotes.
- Historical events: what happened on this day in history.
- Fun Facts: surprising facts.
The content refreshes every 30 minutes. Active widgets are woven into your playlist, with one appearing between your media roughly every 60 seconds.
News via RSS
In the “RSS news” tab, switch on system feeds or use “RSS feed” to add your own: enter a name and address, then verify with “Check URL”. Under “Options”, set the layout, number of stories, seconds per story and keyword filters. New articles are loaded every 2 hours, and “Refresh now” starts a fetch straight away. Feeds marked as a ticker only run as scrolling text in the L-Banner layout. You are responsible for the texts and images of your own feeds.
Custom widgets
Under “Custom widgets”, you create widgets with your own data, for example Google reviews or a calendar via an ICS link. Enter a name, choose “All displays” or “Selected displays” and check the result in the preview.
Switching a widget on is not enough: without a widget slot in the schedule, no widget appears on the screen. The selection of standard widgets also applies centrally to your account, not per schedule or display.
