Show a website as a slide

Add websites, Google Slides and videos by link, either live or as a screenshot with its own refresh interval.

With link slides, you can show a website, a Google Slides presentation or a YouTube or Vimeo video as an item in your playlists. Link slides are part of Pro. They can be arranged like any other medium and are the most flexible way to bring a website to the screen.

Create a link slide

  1. 1Open the “Media library” and click “Add link”.
  2. 2Enter the “Address (URL)” and click “Check”. The result tells you whether the page will run live, only works as a screenshot or cannot be shown at all, for example because a login is required.
  3. 3Enter a name and the “Display time (seconds)” (5 to 3,600), and choose the format: landscape (16:9) or portrait (9:16).
  4. 4Under “Display”, choose how the page runs. For a screenshot, set the interval (15 to 1,440 minutes, default 60).
  5. 5Click “Add” and include the new slide in a playlist.

The three display modes

  • Automatic (live, otherwise screenshot): uses the live view as long as the page allows embedding.
  • Always live: always shows the real page. If the page does not allow embedding, the screen will probably only show an error page.
  • Always as screenshot: shows a regularly renewed image and also works offline.

Google Slides and videos

  • Google Slides: share the presentation as “Anyone with the link” or publish it to the web. It runs live, starts at slide 1 each time it is shown, and you set “Seconds per slide” (3 to 120).
  • YouTube and Vimeo: choose “Play until the video ends” or a maximum duration, “Start at (seconds)” and the sound. Videos start more reliably without sound. For advertising screens, we recommend your own videos or Vimeo, because music licensing (e.g. GEMA) and ads may apply on YouTube.

Alternative: the Website tab in the Content Hub

In the “Content Hub”, use the “Website” tab to add a page’s name and address. It then runs as a screenshot whenever a slot of the “Website” type is active in the schedule. Such a slot shows all pages from this tab; the address in the slot itself is only a fallback if the tab is empty.

Live content needs the internet: slides marked “online only” are skipped without a connection. If a website should stay visible during outages, choose “Always as screenshot”. The preview in the dashboard runs in your browser, and pages may look different on the screen.
