Content is not playing

Check the schedule, slot, playlist, validity dates and format in turn when a display does not show what you expect.

Content only plays when the whole chain is right: the display has a schedule, a slot is active right now, the playlist contains valid items and the format matches. Work through the chain from the start. If the display shows no connection at all, begin with “Display shows as offline”.

Run through these checks

  1. 1Open the display. If the “Schedule” card says “No schedule”, select one and confirm with “OK”.
  2. 2Open the schedule and check whether a slot is active now: day of the week, start and end time in German time. The “Calendar” view shows gaps at a glance.
  3. 3Check whether the slot has a condition under “Weather condition”. If so, it only plays in matching weather.
  4. 4Check that the slot names a playlist and is not set to “No playlist”.
  5. 5Open the playlist. Items marked “Expired” or “Scheduled” are outside their validity dates and will not play today. Click “Save” after every change.
  6. 6Read the yellow warning on the display’s detail page. Content in the wrong format is not played: portrait does not play on a landscape display and vice versa. Check the “Screen rotation” as well.
  7. 7Under “Player controls”, send “Reload playlist” and wait for up to 5 minutes. Without the command, new content appears within about 15 minutes.
  8. 8If the player still shows old content, send “Clear cache”.

Special content types

  • Widgets and social media are part of Pro and need their own slot. They are locked once the trial ends.
  • With social media, only posts you have selected play, and only those in the matching format.
  • Link slides marked “online only” are skipped without internet.
  • Documents can only be used once their status is “Ready”.

Messages on the screen

“Waiting for content...” and “Loading playlist...” appear while the player cannot play anything yet. “No content available” suggests that no content is arriving at the moment. In that case, work through the steps above.

The preview on the detail page shows what the server last delivered to the display, not the actual picture. If the preview is right but the screen shows something else, the cause is more likely the player or its connection. A fallback playlist fills times when no slot provides content.
